Books have been stated on this issue, and the controversy and disagreement about where the "hot" one armed bandits are installed in the casino are still ongoing - over 60 yrs after the slot machines were first added to the gaming floor in casinos.

The quintessential rule is that the superior slot machines were put just inside the main entryway of the casino; so that fun seekers going by would be able to see jackpot winners and be smitten to come inside ... play. Our stance is that this is definitely no longer true.

The majority of the big name casinos presently are colossal complexes and you can no longer see inside from the sidewalk, so there's no longer a reason to have the 'loose' slot machines close-by any exits.

What casinos found over the years is that people walking down the busy aisles were frequently on the way to somewhere else.
